| Windows Vista DHCP Connection 1. Begin by opening the Windows Vista Control Panel. Click the Start orb, then select Control Panel. 2. Click on the link labeled Network and Internet. 3. Click on the link labeled Network and Sharing Center. 4. Click the link on the left-hand side that says Manage Network Connections. 5. Double click on the icon labeled Local Area Connection, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and then click on Properties to configure your network connection. 7. Click on Advanced. The following dialog box should appear: 6. Select the Obtain IP address automatically and 8. Ensure that the Default gateways box is empty; otherwise, select each entry and 9. Select the DNS tab. The following dialog box should appear: 10.Remove the check mark beside the Register this connection’s address in DNS option. 11.Ensure that the DNS server addresses, in order of use and 12.Select the WINS tab. The following dialog box should appear: 5 13.Ensure that the WINS addresses, in order of use box is empty; otherwise, 14.Click OK to close the Advanced TCP/IP Settings dialog box. 15.Click OK again to close the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) 16.Click Close to close the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box. 17.Windows may copy some files and then ask to restart your computer. |
